Hi everyone! We hope you’re all staying positive and optimistic through this crazy time. We thought we would take a minute to brighten your day with a newsletter acting as a mini highlight reel of some incredible things companies and individuals are doing in our community right now
1. BLG Law Office
During this time of hardship, it gives us great joy to highlight a company that is doing its part to help our community. Last Friday, we had the pleasure of picking up two full bins of non-perishable food items from an internal food drive done by BLG. Our team picked up and dropped off bins full of food to the Covenant House and the Powell Place Women’s Shelter in Vancouver. We did the moving, but really, BLG did the heavy lifting, so to speak. Way to go BLG, thank you for doing your part!
2. Parallel 49 Brewing
We wanted to talk about a company that is very special to us – our very own neighbours, Parallel 49 Brewing. Parallel 49 was recently approved to start on the production of hand sanitizers! With things underway, on Saturday, March 28th, they donated the first batch of 3,000 units to charities, non-profits, and disadvantaged individuals in the community. We applaud you Parallel 49, way to keep up the fantastic work!
3. Vancouver Firefighter Charities
The Vancouver Firefighter Charities (VFC) recently started a new community outreach initiative designed to provide much-needed essentials to the city’s most vulnerable citizens.
Throughout this pandemic, off-duty firefighters will be volunteering their time to deliver care packages including cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products to individuals who are in need. The goal of the VFC initiative is to ensure elderly and vulnerable persons who are currently self-isolating and unable to leave their homes will have access to essential health and hygiene supplies.
4. Pemberton Heights Rocks!
This might be one of our favourites… Happening right here in one of our very own North Vancouver neighbourhoods, started and executed by kids;
PEMBERTON HEIGHTS ROCKS!
In times like these, sometimes all you need is something small to brighten your day. Maybe a walk through the forest to check out rocks painted with love by someone small who wants to do their part to bring light into this dark time. Check out the poster below for all the details or follow them on IG @PembertonHeightsRocks
Now we want to challenge YOU!
What can you do or what are you already doing to make a difference in your community? Big or small? Maybe it’s something you can do from home to brighten someone’s day? Or maybe you know someone who is doing something amazing and you want to feature them?
Let us know – we want to hear it all and we will post it on our Instagram page!
