2021 In Review: a look at some of DLO’s favourite Vancouver Office Moving projects

As the holidays begin and the year slowly draws to an end, we wanted to remember all the amazing things and projects that DLO was a part of in 2021. It has been a big year for us and we are so proud of all the outstanding office moving, office move coordinating, and storage management that our team has provided this year. In particular, we wanted to highlight 4 major projects that DLO was responsible for in 2021.

1. BC Housing, Move Support, Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island

BC Housing was a major moving support project for DLO that spanned the entirety of 2021. Over the course of this project, DLO received, moved, and assembled hundreds of ‘pop-up’ sleeping pods in Victoria, Powell River, Mission, and many locations throughout Metro Vancouver. These pods provided temporary accommodations for those in need.

This project required DLO to respond quickly, as, in most cases, delivery and install what was needed ASAP. BC housing and our scheduling team worked together constantly to make sure that pods were delivered in a timely manner on a schedule that worked for both parties. It was a pleasure working alongside BC Housing to help them further their cause!

2. Beatty Floors, Office Move, Vancouver and Burnaby

In September 2021, DLO provided move support services to Beatty Floors. Moving them from their previous office on Pandora Street in Vancouver, to their new location on Lougheed Highway in Burnaby, required a full-service external office move. With office contents, equipment, and furniture for approximately 25 employees, the move involved the disassembly and reassembly of desks, workstations, and the moving of hundreds of sample books, mounted overheads, and even a very old (more than 100 years!) vintage safe.

The Beatty Floors location was spread over three stories, with the top and bottom floors only accessible by a very low clearance stairwell, so you can imagine we had to pull some interesting maneuvering tactics to get their office equipment out… especially with the safe, which hadn’t been moved for more than 50 years!

Here’s what Beatty Floors had to say about their office move experience:

“What great team to work with if you have an office move in your sights. We had been in an office for 55 years and had significant challenges getting ready for our move. DLO were responsive and so helpful in making it happen. The two days of disassembly and reassembly was seamless. They moved an ancient safe which we thought wouldn’t be possible. DLO is a top shelf organization!” – Vance McCarthy, Beatty Floors

3. Fraser Health Authority, Covid Testing Sites Move, Metro Vancouver

DLO also had the opportunity to work with the Fraser Health Authority on multiple dates throughout 2021. This project involved working closely with Fraser Health Authority (FHA) to decommission multiple Covid testing and vaccination sites throughout Metro Vancouver, including Delta, Surrey, Burnaby, Langley, and Victoria. Each site had hundreds of items that we moved and delivered to the FHA warehouse for storage.

DLO also provided move coordination for this large project. After each move, a DLO  Move Coordinator reorganized, inventoried, and took photos of each unique item from the testing and vaccination sites. Often, we decommissioned and moved these sites promptly a day after they were shut down.

4. FuseFX, Multiple Phase Office Move, Vancouver

Over the months of June, August, and September, DLO was responsible for providing FuseFX with a multi-phase office move from their location on Hamilton Street in Vancouver. This project began with an internal move of contents and furniture for 20 staff, followed by an external move of contents and furniture for 35 staff, and lastly a move of furniture for 40 staff. Along the way, DLO also assisted FuseFX with the removal and recycling of 50 desks, tables, and IT waste items.

Moving this Yaletown location provided a unique challenge as most buildings in this area do not provide a loading bay for trucks. On top of that, the uneven raised brick walkways required us to be extra careful when pushing furniture on dollies to our trucks. Our team made it happen though!

Here’s what FuseFX had to say about their office moving experience:

“Amazing team, DLO helped us with our many moves. On time, professional, mastering Tetris will continue to work with them. Thanks to the DLO Team for all the help.” – Constance Noel, FuseFX

As you can tell, 2021 was full of fun and challenging projects at DLO, and we are so grateful for our amazing team and clients who helped them happen! From our team to yours, have a happy holiday season and we look forward to what the new year brings!
